RBHS’s Science department is committed to using a variety of instructional strategies that provide numerous hands-on opportunities for students to meet the Ministry of Education’s overall curriculum expectations develop and refine their investigation skills, while discovering fundamental concepts through inquiry, exploration, observation, and research. Field trips, guest lecturers, participation in contests offer opportunities for students to relate knowledge and skills to a variety of contexts. Our students use technology in fully equipped science laboratories. Vernier® Labquest probe technology and simulations, Smartboard® interactive lessons, Smart® clicker assessments, virtual lab activities, online EBSCOhost research database are only a sample of the instructional mediums our students are exposed to with the classroom science teacher as a facilitator. Students are motivated to learn in a meaningful way, increase their science literacy and to become lifelong learners. |
